Endurance Coach, USAT Paratriathlon Coach
With a degree in Nursing from Rutgers University and 20+ years in healthcare, John approaches endurance coaching with a significant understanding of the human body and how it functions. John worked in several nursing specialties, including Critical Care, Emergency Care and Pre-hospital care.
In 2007, John shifted his focus to injury prevention and earned his Strength & Conditioning Certification. As a trainer, John was assigned several clients with advanced medical issues, including cardiac disease and Multiple Sclerosis. Integrating his medical knowledge enabled him to collaborate with the client medical teams and develop high level training plans tailored to each client’s desired outcomes.
John earned his RRCA Running Coach and Obstacle Course Racing coaching certifications; and in 2014 he began to compete in triathlons and opened an online triathlon store, Tri Everything, with his wife. Four years later he decided to transition away from retail and focus on coaching. While earning his Ironman and USAT coaching certifications, he began working with Head Coach Brad Johnson at Axes. The Axes Coach Mentor program introduced him to coaching fundamentals and principles not taught in the traditional classroom environment.
Over the years, John has worked with hundreds of athletes in the U.S. and Canada. His clients have trained at all distances of triathlon, running events, and obstacle course racing from 5K running races to 13-mile Tough Mudder obstacle course challenges to full Ironman. As an athlete, John is an Ironman Finisher and has completed multiple Ironman 70.3 races. He has achieved Ironman All-World Athlete status 4 years in a row. John has also completed multiple marathons and half marathons, is a 5x Tough Mudder (10-12 miles) finisher, a Civilian-Military Combine Finisher, and a GoRuck Tough Finisher.
John is a father of two and husband to his wife, Stancie, and works with clients to balance their journey in endurance sport with the rest of their lives.
