Para Sports

Axes works with beginner and experienced para-athletes, as well as athletes with unseen injuries (traumatic brain injury, PTS) and developmental disabilities. We train athletes to improve physical and mental health in order to achieve their goals, whether that’s getting healthier or racing at a higher level. We support athletes who compete in triathlon and paratriathlon, as well as the individual sports including swim, bike and run. Additionally, we work with athletes competing in alternative sports such as adventure racing, rucking, and other challenges. About Paratriathlon First introduced at the IPC’s Paralympic Games at Rio 2016, paratriathlon is the participation of individuals with physical difficulties in the sport of triathlon. Athletes compete with a wide variety of disabilities, such as paraplegia, quadriplegia, amputation(s), multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, and visual impairment. Paratriathletes compete in different categories according to the nature of their physical impairments and the variation needed to compete. There are currently nine sport classes for athletes with an impairment competing over the sprint paratriathlon distance of 750m swim, 20km bike (hand bike/tandem), 5km run (racing wheelchair) at all World Triathlon-sanctioned paratriathlon events. Paratriathlon, which is poised to become the fastest-growing sport in the Paralympic Movement, offers a unique and inclusive global opportunity for athletes with recognized types of impairments to perform at elite levels in a modern, exciting and dynamic sport.
